E4C Edmonton City Centre Church Corporation

E4C originated in the 1960s when clergy from All Saints’ Cathedral, McDougall United, First Baptist, Augustana Lutheran, and St. Joseph’s Basilica began meeting to coordinate their churches’ social ministry efforts. One of its early accomplishments was starting the Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre (WEAC) in what was then All Saints’ parish hall. The organization has grown rapidly over the years. Its mandate is to limit, alleviate, and ultimately eliminate poverty. It has over 20 programs grouped in four main areas: food security; housing and shelter; education and skill development; and building community capacity. Christ Church Anglican is also now a member.

As one of its founding members, the congregation of All Saints’ continues to be involved in various aspects of E4C ministries.

Inner City Pastoral Ministry

All Saints Cathedral Parish has had a long standing relationship with the Inner City Pastoral Ministry on a Sunday with the Community of Emmanuel at the Bissell Centre. Twice a year we have the privilege of worshiping alongside the congregation as well as bringing, preparing, and serving a lunch with a partner church. For our volunteers it is a time to join with the community by sharing stories and worshiping together followed by serving a nutritious lunch. Our congregation has been generous in providing sandwiches, fresh fruit, vegetables and desserts.

Everyone who volunteers is changed and lifted up. The experience is truly a gift and by reaching out we can make a small step toward one of the Five Marks of Mission “to respond to human need through loving service”.

Friday Community Breakfasts

Community breakfasts are served each & every Friday morning at 7:30am during the fall and winter seasons.

This is an important part of our service to the inner city, of which we are a part, and our guests might include a homeless person, a member of the ‘working poor’, or a church member! Anyone who would like to is invited to join us.  We each have a story to share, we all have hope for a better future.

Please join us from 7:30am to 9:00am for porridge, ham, pancakes, orange juice, and coffee. If you are able to help cook, serve, clean-up, or visit with other guests, please come anytime between 6:45 and 9:30. We look forward to welcoming you onboard. If you have any questions, please speak with the Rev. Quinn Strikwerda.

Spread the word: everyone is welcome!

ALSO…

Donations are also needed: NEW touques, warm gloves, long underwear and new or gently used coats. These items will be offered to clients attending our Friday breakfasts. Please give your clothing items donations to Rev. Quinn Strikwerda, or drop them off at the church office, Monday to Friday. Cash donations would also be greatly appreciated – please mark your offering envelopes ‘Friday Breakfasts’ and place in the offering plate. Thank you.

Tuesday Lunch

Come join us for a simple community lunch on Tuesdays at 12:30 pm. All are welcome to attend. If you wish to donate time or part of the meal, please speak with Mary- Lou.

Manna Market

Every Wednesday from 2-4pm, join us in the hall for shopping! We will have fresh local produce for sale for 1/3-1/2 the price of grocery stores. This ministry was started in hopes of reaching out to the local lower income families and individuals needing fresh produce, but unable to afford so on their budget.

When you’re done shopping, stick around for a coffee and a chat with volunteers and fellow shoppers.
