Choral Evensong for the Feast of Ascension

Choral Evensong for the Feast of Ascension

Sunday, June 1, 2025

Usually on the first Sunday of each month, priest and choir offer the Service of Evening Prayer set to music. There is no Eucharist at this service and only a brief meditation (rather than a full sermon). Those who attend are simply invited to a time of prayer and peace.

Choral Evensong combines the two older offices of Vespers and Compline. A work of art, as well as a service of prayer, it offers a reprieve from the noise and haste of day-to-day life and can be enjoyed by anyone who loves music and poetic language. Congregants may join in the singing of the hymns if they so desire. All are welcome to attend.

No Thursday Eucharist for Summer

No Thursday Eucharist for Summer

Following the Eucharist on Thursday, June 5, the Thursday Eucharist services will postpone for the rest of summer (June-August). Thursday Eucharist will resume in September.

Help Care for Cathedral Garden Space

Help Care for Cathedral Garden Space

We are looking for kind-hearted volunteers to help maintain the beauty of our church's front yard. It is small but very visible. If you enjoy being outdoors and have a few hours to spare, we would love some help with mowing the grass, looking after the flowers, and keeping the area neat and tidy. We will provide a hand push mower as well as garden tools. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve in a practical and meaningful way, helping to make our church a welcoming place for all who visit. If you’re interested or have questions, please contact the office, or Julia, at church or at Julianelson@shaw.ca or 780-454-2657.

Service Changes for June

Service Changes for June

In the month of June, there will be some changes to our normal services:

  • June 1: The 8:30am service remains unchanged. For the 10:30am service, additional prayers will be added in remembrance of Gordon Smith and to commit him to God’s care.
  • June 8: The 8:30am service remains unchanged. Instead of the 10:30am service, we will be holding a service at 11:00am at the Cathedral. This will be a combined service with the parishes of St. Luke and St. Mark-Jieng to celebrate Pentecost Sunday and will be followed with a potluck.
  • June 29: Neither the 8:30am nor the 10:30am service will be held in the Cathedral as we will be holding an outdoor park service on June 29. Time and details will be announced soon.
